WISSEN HOCH 2
STIMME
It begins with a cry and then forms in the first years of life. Up to 100 muscles are involved in the formation of the voice, making it a unique means of expressing our personality that reveals more about us than we realize. Our voice is a special instrument and means of communication. Its sound can touch and inspire others, as the success of the Thomaner Knabenchor from Leipzig and the over-70s choir “Heaven can Wait” from Hamburg shows. Characteristics such as pitch, timbre and melody make the human voice as unique as a fingerprint. The individual anatomy of the vocal folds, larynx and nasopharynx also plays a role, as voice specialist and musician Prof. Michael Fuchs from Leipzig University Hospital explains.
